Regency Period Mahogany Bookcase-12' Long

A fine quality mahogany breakfronted bookcase of great size. The quality of construction and materials is extraordinary. Tri-cluster columns are mounted to each of the doors. The astragals of the glazed doors form Gothic arches. The moldings of the lower doors consist of standard arches that intersect to form Gothic arches that echo those of the upper doors. The right hand section of the base is completely fitted behind the paneled door with small drawers of varying sizes. The left hand section is partially fitted with similar small drawers and also with adjustable shelving. The two center sections of the base feature folio compartments and adjustable shelving. All of the interior drawers are beautifully made with mahogany drawer fronts, turned wooden knobs, fine dovetails, and oak and cedar linings. All the brass locks are stamped Russells Security Patent and appear similar in design to Bramah locks of the period. The cornice and plinth have been restored.
