Six-Panel Leather Screen with Painted Chinoiserie Decoration

The six-panel, hinged screen is painted with a fanciful scene featuring the strong central image of a pagoda surrounded by a landscape populated with flowers, birds, and children riding animals including one on an elephant. The vibrant colors pop off the black ground. Found in a surprisingly well-preserved state.
