An Unusually Small Coffre Fort
A rosewood veneered strongbox bound in elaborate brass strapwork. With carrying handles on the sides. Intended to store personal valuables, the box could have been secured to a table or floor to deter thieves. While this form is certainly recognizable, the small size is atypical.
