A satinwood veneered, balloon-shaped bracket clock by John Grant, London with a finely executed marquetry patera below the dial. The eight day striking movement is concealed behind a fretted, fabric-lined door and features an engraved brass backplate and brackets securing it to the case. The makers name signed on the enamel dial. The bracket is most likely original to the clock. From the collection of Walter J. Iden and retaining the inventory label (no. NM-2054) inside the door. Iden's is considered one of the top three collections of English clocks amassed during the 20th Century.  Four clocks from his collection are now housed in The British Museum.
