A Chippendale period mahogany card table with serpentine-shaped top. Raised on four cabriole legs which are crisply carved with acanthus leaf motif on the knees and ending in ball and claw feet. Also carved with gadrooning along the apron. One back leg swings to support the hinged top for use as a card playing surface. The table is 38" square when open. The playing surface lined with a black baize. Overall, the table is lovely quality. The timber is dense and the carving is executed with confidence and expertise as can be discerned from the great crispness and high relief.
